Hunted my favorite picnic woods today. Pretty frozen ground in spots. In some spots the ground just had a frozen crust. Other spots were frozen down to 5 inches or more. Had to give up on one promising signal that was just too deep. However, I was able to recover some nice stuff with my trusty, heavy-duty digger. A couple of coins were in frozen clumps of sod. So, I put the whole clumps in my pouch to check at home.
The first clump appeared to have a silver dime in it:
