hi all, mild cool winters day here but still the sun managed too show its self for a few hours this afternoon. I continued my sweep of the northern end of Garden Gully.Just a few yards from where i found a tavern foundations,i came across a couple of smaller structures.I would be safe to say these where miner's cottages.Got started on the first one which produced some nice relics.
During the WW 1 ,mining was put on hold and many of the young men could get better pay in the army {A.F.I}.Nearly all the young men had gone to war.Very sad story the WW1 for Australia, the lose of life was huge and even the local mining companies had trouble finding man power for the mines after the war.
Well i had a bit a mega goodie hole going on this site.Within a few yards i found these following items
1915 Belgium 25 ct [brought back from the War]
Red cross [bendigo fund raiser pin] WW1
Red cross Australia pin date unknown
A.I.F Comm Civil Medal 1918 [victory]
silver fork same era and some pottery shards.
thanks for looking and there heeps of pics
