Went door knocking and got permission at a house built in the 1790's. The land has been totally reworked over the years, so I didn't find much. However the last target of the day was a George Washington Inaugural Button! My question: the button is sort of scalloped around the edge. Is this from being beat up in the ground for 200 years, or do you think it was done intentionally?

Thanks,
Jim

Terrific find! You might look into seeing if any type of restoration is possible. Nonetheless, you’ve found an outstanding piece of history!
