The pair has been living under this driveway for a few years now. I was getting really fussed at.... "move along Mr. nothing to see here..."

I remember a vacant lot in California that had burrowing owls in it. They're a pretty interesting little birds. I guess some live in the prairie dog towns here in Colorado, but I've never seen any.

We had a bunch around my high school track. All the activity didn't seem to affect them too much. I used to get the biggest kick out of sitting close to a burrow until one came up. He'd do a little up n down head bob thing that was cool. I'd bob my head and he'd do it back. One of my friends said "He's probably going down the burrow telling all the others, Hey come see what I can make the dumb human do!" We'd bring beef heart strips to feed them. Saw a couple in Sedalia Co. but nowhere else around Denver.

Their body is about the size of my fist, with a very sharp beak and talons. I saw one fly off and the wingspan was impressive for it's size.

Must have got his wires crossed with the evolution thing,everybody knows birds nest in trees.:tongue3:
