Exactly 88.0333 grams, you said exactly, right? I have no idea of the worth of the dime, can you please give me a value so that I know just what it's worth when I win. Thanks

By using a combination of mathematical estimation, optical comparison and prevailing wind, I have arrived at the precise weight...

10.42 grams

I'll send you mailing address in a PM so you can get it ready to ship to me. :headbang:

I see no prohibition with submitting a second estimate--so I will, especially based on unusually high tides, the coming of El Nino and how that data affects the specific gravity of gold.
24.91 grams.

The pieces seem to be about eighteen times the volume of the dime and gold is a little less than twice the SG of silver. My guess is 31.51 grams.

just goes to show, desert looks like desert, at least in the tri-state area.
has it been worth it being an LDMA member?

one note from my perspective: I find gold for a (meager) living, not as a hobbyist.

PM me Laz!

The prize, has an interesting story behind it. My Brother and I were rolling boulders on Weaver Hill (just east of Rich Hill), in central Arizona, looking for material to run through our drywasher. I was checking the area that had been under the five-foot boulder we had just rolled and I got a HUGE hit. Well, needless to say I though we had hit a whopper gold nugget! I dug down about 2", and out popped the silver Liberty dime! I still haven't figured that one out yet! - Good luck to you and ALL the other members participating. I for one, am having a great time reading all the guesses and comments! :occasion14:
