Today I decided to go to the old wood store tear down site because it had just rained here and I would get more depth and the digging would be good. The first thing pulled out was a buffalo nickel with no date. Kept working the area finding only a few old trinkets and things every once in a while, when I got a penny/dime signal. It was a worn 1919 merc that was only down about 3". The last thing found before it was time to go was an 1906 "shot" Indian penny. Thanks for looking.

Now that is truly a conversation piece!

Great finds and I would put the shot coin next to a good one in a shadow box or something.

Any idea on the approximate size of the hole to determine calibre of the weapon used?

The shot one makes me wonder if someone thumped it in the air and shot it or shot it on the ground and told someone they threw it in the air lol. Great finds anyway, really neat!
