Stone looks wet. Is it? Use a hammer, chip of an edge and show us the surface.
Chances are it's something more common then kimberlite.

The stone is wet as I had just dug it out of a stream. A local told me diamonds were found in the vicinity. This is from the Rock Elm Disturbance.

Here's what it looks like broken open.

This rock is about the size of a bowling ball. I found it several years ago FB_IMG_1502078252968.jpg on the side of a dry wash in Swarthout Canyon, Cajon Pass, CA near the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail).
The white coloring on the rock appears to be a milky quartz.

Might be andesite-ish or rhyolite-ish rock. Can't tell for certain.

:laughing7: Go to the shop and complain, just to see what happens. Show them the mica schist.

Identify. please. At first i thought it to be petrified wood and maybe so but it seems to have a kind of core of another "material" and color. The white flakes are old paint. Thanks for your help.

Found this while digging a big pond. Haven't cleaned it all up yet so there's a little clay on it

Can't tell much of anything. Limonite, hematite or a mixture? Perhaps even a rock made of several minerals?
You really need to get more persuasive with the hammer to get a better guess. See if a knife will scratch it.

It would make a nice cabochon for sure. Possibly silica based. Will a knife scratch it?
Could also be a fancy schist of some sort.
