Found a Guthrie C.D.T. 1905 tag. Oklahoma was still a territory in 1905. Found in Texas, there is a Guthrie, Texas but it only had a population of 101 in 1905, so I feel sure it is Guthrie, O.T.

Here are the dog tags I've found in York County Pa. The number 9 tag was in the same hole as the 1938 tag, do you think it could have been an extension of the license or maybe they ran out of 1939 tags.

I forgot that I had this one that I found at MAFB AH. I noticed some writing on it that I hadn't seen before and a couple of small gold flakes around the fastener. I always thought this was mounted on a cage but because of all the rust around the fastener. I have time for the PO tomorrow, all coming down range.

Judging by the previous posts, this is a really interesting hobby. I just found this today while doing some yard clean-up. This is from Yerington, Nevada. I am unsure what 15 stands for other than the year of issue. Thanks for any help. DSC04658.JPG

VERY NICE FIND!! . . . . Actually, your Yerington NV tag is dated 1929 . . . .you can see the "29" is formed from the little diagonal dash marks. The 15 refers to the serial number or registration number. The dog that wore this tag was the 15th dog that was registered with the city in 1929.

GOOD NEWS ~ this is a new discovery piece! I have the newest edition of Dr. William Bones book US DOG LICENSE TAGS. In this book it has listed as the oldest known tag from Yerington NV is 1954. I will forword this info to Mr. Bone so he can update his database and reflect this new info in the future printings of his book! VERY COOL!!!

Neil,
A sincere Thanks for some great info. Your ability to see the 29 in the tag is very artistic. By all means please pass this info onto Dr. Bones. Happy collecting! Jim W.
