Differential GPS is a method of using satelite and ground based transmitters/recievers to obtain a more accurate position.

Wikepedia Definition:
Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) is an enhancement to Global Positioning System that uses a network of fixed ground based reference stations to broadcast the difference between the positions indicated by the satellite systems and the known fixed positions. These stations broadcast the difference between the measured satellite pseudoranges and actual (internally computed) pseudoranges, and receiver stations may correct their pseudoranges by the same amount.

The Fisher's do not require the use of DGPS any more. WAAS seems to have become the standard in most GPS systems off the shelf. WAAS offers an accuracy of 3-5 meters 95% of the time. This is very comparable to DGPS, as long as the DGPS land based antenna is functioning or has not been shut down.

As for your Garmin Map60cSX: YES, it has WAAS, but not DGPS.
