Gravel driveways!!!

Yeah, a screwdriver is probably the best thing...old compacted gravel is about the hardest thing to dig thru short of concrete!

I use the screwdriver and also one of those hand rakes. It about the same size as a digger and has four tines. Works great. Won't go for anything less than a quarter. To much work otherwise.

Most driveways in my area only have approx 2-4 inches of gravel. When I pinpoint an object I mark it with the point of a screwdriver. I then take a small maul and hammer and score the outskirts of the object. Go around object a couple of times, it will loosen up the gravel. The good 'stuff' will be under the gravel in a darkened oiled colored soil. Good Luck, HappyHunt'in Holyfield

I use a welders chipping hammer. It has a blunt point on one end and a flat edge one the other.Be careful not to hammer the gravel but to chip small portions away.
