It's been raining and I haven't gone out detecting for a few days so I picked up a box of pennies yesterday.
The first roll had 9 wheats in it!
I also had a roll with a wheat on the end.
By the end of the night, the total was 102 wheats. Previously I had never gotten more than 12-15 although this is only my 5th box.
Earliest was a 1918.
1955-1958 made up 50 of the wheats. No 1943 or 1948-1950.
Total copper was somewhere between 1/3-1/4. There are many coins from the late 1960s to early 1970s that appear as though they were taken out of circulation right away. About 1/4 of the coppers appear to be uncirculated. Maybe I got someone's penny collection cashed in from a Coin Star machine.
Thanks for reading and happy hunting.
