I haven't noticed obnoxious ads here. One of the reasons I'm hanging onto my old software & OS is the pop-up blockers. ;-)
Yes i do not get pop ups either i have a APPLE IMac .. What i get is if i look up something on the net i will then get at times i get a email from some company selling that item And that little add on top of Tnet here ...

If you must log in to avoid these scare tactics then it is a well known problem . If I can't just look at this site without logging in then I would say this is an unsecured site to browse. I am trying to make people aware of what's going on to save them the headaches of being ripped off or scammed.I am not trying to insult or put down this site.
No more replies from me, Thank you for sharing and listening.

in this day & age, if someone gets Scammed they are a fool !

Sorry But there is So many ways to be warned, From News Papers, to Magazines,
To news Programs to The Internet itself.

There are Warnings Everywhere.

Before Buying all you need do is Type the name of the deal in the Search engine.
and add the word Scam.

Example "Cash for Gold" if you search "Cash for Gold scam" you will get all kinds of warnings you can read and decide what is real and what is sour grapes.

same with just about anything else you can get a proper name for.

again to get scammed these days you have to be very greedy and very foolish
.

I haven't experienced the add mentioned. A year or two ago I was getting unwanted pop ups and warnings that turned out to be malware. After having my computer cleaned by a professional and running a better virus program and malware detection program, I havent' had any more problems. I strongly recommend "Malware Bytes" the paid deluxe version as it has done the job very well for me.

Site has nothing to do with ads, ads based on google searches made, every non registered or non logged in reader sees different ads based on their google history searches....

You don't want to log in then don't, but do not attack TreasureNet because you choose not to log in and so see the ads....

I have found that if doing a long post or if I got interrupted and it takes longer, the site has to be logged into again. I was reading this thread last night got an insurance ad beside the post and up on the header and I was not signed in any longer. Other times it's not an issue for some reason and I just think it's maybe an interruption in the downloading of content from the satellite and I loose the sign in, also sometimes when I bring up a new page to look something up while I'm in a thread/post, so I have learnt to stay on the main menu page and it doesn't happen, strange but true.

I have the same thing here.... I'll be typing on a post and when I'm done it won't post because I'm not logged in anymore for some reason. I've learned to "copy" my post first and THEN log back in then paste. I use a Verizon Mi-Fi Jetpack as it's my only option here. And my WEBROOT anti-virus has also done a great job for me.

still feel like old time dial up.

ended up cleaning everything out & restarting to get out of what ever I did :tongue3:

for me it all stated with 4 open windows: 3 Windows open in TNet 1 of which was logged out,
1 In a News Website
and trying to post here at the same time :BangHead:

took at least 10 minutes to regroup

I believe it senses your no longer active on the TN page you left and times out after so many minutes. If your going to do that you need to write it in word or notepad then cut and paste or don't leave the active page for so long.

If I go to Amazon looking at a certain tool, the many ads that show up on other sites after that is that particular tool on sale at WalMart, Sears, etc. etc. Cookies and trackingware is deep seated and will affect the ad pop ups geared towards your personal site searching venue.

There was an article a while back that said that the most destructive annoying pop ups come to people who frequent porn sites that has no interest in protective site content. Sometimes it's best to clean up your trails (cookies, malware, adware) to improve the chances of what you desire to see in ads over letting yourself be open to nasty ones. There is a security aspect YOU have to perform, or else it's like never changing the oil in your car.

I never have that "logged out" problem. I have checked the box that says "Stay logged in" and I just go to the bookmark. If I haven't been to the site in a long time, say several weeks, then I have to log in again. No pop up ad problems either.

I know .... whenever I want to show my wife a ring or coin that someone else found, I have to be sure to scroll down low enough so she doesn't see porn ads advertising things I cannot admit to watching after she goes to bed.....just sayin.

There was definitely something that attacked this site for a day or two. Big ads about almost anything, often going over TNet content & noticed for awhile I could not even access TNet. If this was someone who attacked my computer, TNet was the only site on which I got the odd ads.

I may be wrong, but this may have happened after a thread about if people turn in their more valuable finds like gold jewelry, so the ads (maybe fake ads) may have been put there by govt, so we'd think commercial pests, rather than govt investigation, with the hope there would be more self-incrimination. Now I think nobody has added to that thread for a couple days & those ads seem to be gone. Coincidence? You decide, but I vote no. Best wishes all, George (MN)

Was no attack, we all would have seen it, 4 MODs and multiple Admins would have seen it... I accessed site from multiple PCs, cell phone and tablet..
