No, no, no. Not one of those hunts, one of THOSE hunts! ;)

Possibly the last warm day, the rain held off, had plenty of time, the ground was decent, the finds were pretty regular and very, VERY interesting all day!

No, I didn't fill a bucket with all my coins but there was enough to keep me interested and enjoyed myself the entire time there.

Not quantity. Quality.

Image359.jpg

My ear must have been really, really tuned in today. I dug this up and chased it all over the pile of dirt with my pinpointer.
It's silver! But, look at how tiny!!

Image360.jpg Image361.jpg

This is a modern park but I even found these two flat buttons. I haven't tried to clean them up yet.
I'll report if I find any markings.

This little earring is fascinating to me. I suspect that it might be quite old.
But, that ain't all. I dug it up as you see it, but as soon as I turned it over in my hand, the ball just fell out!
How delicately must I have been digging!?!?! (sic lucky! :) )

And when I say little, I mean little!

The ruler didn't make it fully but those marks that you can see are 1/16th's .
The little globe is flat and polished on the bottom. Clear as a bell!

Image356.jpg

My ride showed up without wheels. :dontknow:

As I was going along today I was calling my shots.

Pulltab, Nickel, Dime, Penny, Coke cap, can slaw, etc. and I was dead on all
of them! It was fun! Felt like I might finally
be learning my machine. LOL

All of them, but this one.

I heard a manhole cover hit, a very loud 70!

I knelt down, dug my plug and as I pulled it out I said,

"Coke Caaaaaaaaaaaa....... aaaack!!!"

CAAAAP1.jpg
CAAAAP2.jpg
CAAAAP3.jpg

Poor Blingie! He came a runnin' when he heard me say gold!

Image357.jpg
Image358.jpg

He tried to claim it, but, it weighs more than he does! LOL

Yeah, it's due to get cold, winter's coming. But, I had one of those hunts that allows me to feel that I finished the season well.

Image367.jpg

8grams 14kt! Yeah! Now THAT, is an exit find! LOL :)

Thanks for peeking!

Silver AND gold? sheesh!, now that's an exit!, way to go getting that last good hunt before the tundra makes its appearance, I might get out once or twice more but am content with my year thus far. Sweet score and HH while we still can!!

Awesome! Congrats! You had a good day! You found a way to keep Blingie from absconding with your gold, find BIG gold! But then don't be surprised when he drives up in one of the toy cars you found and hauls the gold away to his stash!
Sunday won't get above 30 for a high here, but I have to get that possible last hunt in, with coat, hat, gloves and hand warmer, and that will be what my detector is wearing !!! Brrrrr!

Thanks!

Ya know, I said earring because it's so small but I'd swear I have seen something like this in a book somewhere. :dontknow:

It reminds me of a miniature "Crystal Ball" set up. The ball itself is perfectly clear and surprisingly so for being buried. I still can't get over
how loose it was in the setting and yet, somehow, it stayed together whilst I dug it up.

This seems like a very old style of something that I remember reading about but just can't put a finger on it. The metal, whatever it is, is not magnetic. Maybe pewter?

I think I may post this one up on the "What Is It" forum. Kinda fascinates me.

Thanks again for the kind words!

I was trying to read back through all these posts until I realized there were more than 3 million!! How did I ever miss this site before? :)
I like the way you post. Always an interesting read. The pictures are good too. Makes it seem more real. And that is a beautiful gold band!
I have a question though. Through my reading I'm seeing reference to numbers of the find. Like yours was a "loud 70". My detector has a meter on it but it doesn't go up to 70. Do all detectors now have a number display? I am so sadly far behind! :(

Thanks for your posts. Please keep them up. They are fun.

Don't fret the being behind. Just do a bit of research on here and ask questions.
You'll be up to speed in no time! LOL

The numbers are a modern day detector's equivalent to the meter. They try to give a number associated with the target.
The hope is that discrimination will be enhanced. Trouble is, like meters, you just can't trust them as gospel. The only
way to know for sure, is to dig. ;)

Thank you for the kind words, I do try to entertain a bit as I post.
