I went back today to the place I found my silver seated halves and one reale coin spill. Some of you remember my thread where the coins,as well as my mom’s warm quilted coat got stolen at the YMCA with the coins tucked safely inside. I dug another seated half dime today with the date 1857! She was very crisp though another holed one for safekeeping. I dug what I think are saddle shields, a brass frame buckle, two small buckles with teeth, and an object at that very bottom that looks to be about a half to a fourth inch long that looks like some kind of miniature draw pull?

Congrats on the nice finds. That does look like some kind of a drawer pull.

Looks like, but isn't. It's a padeye or footman loop, which is basically a fastner used to secure a wire line or rope.

Nice finds CoilyGirl. Dang - drives me nuts when someone drills a hole in a coin to hang it from something. Thanks for sharing...

I was thinking similar, or a hasp for a sliding bolt??

You have found some really nice old silver coins lately, big congrats.

I looked at the thread about the missing coat. I am sorry for your loss. I’m certain that you checked the lost & found. Mr. Karma once said, Time wounds all heels. I know I should pray for that person, but I feel like punching them instead.

A great day.... I can imagine the feeling of someone stealing the coat with bucket-list coins in it...... Wow, that would real suck.....

Thanks for the nice comments and yes Carolina Tom, I have tried to pray for the person who took my mom’s coat, they must have needed it more than myself. The little things I am calling saddle shields, I’m not so sure if either. Between me and my husband we dug about 8 of them,as well as the frame style” buckles” The things I’m calling shields are not real thick but they’re brass I think.

Haha Dirtlooter,no struttin’ for me this time. I asked him if he wanted to come with me but he declined. I think he’s happy for me because he knows how much the firs coins that got stolen meant to me.

Your “drawer pull” might be 1/2 of a set meant to put a padlock through? Just a thought.

I'm sure that he is very happy for you. I am always thrilled when my wife gets excited about something that she has just dug up. I even smile as she reflects for the hundredth time. I have been known to mark possible good targets for her to dig on a lousy day. you go girl!
