Very nice buttons and very hard to find types. Those appear to be Union Marine Corps buttons. The Confederate Marine buttons that I have seen just the a large bold M on it, kinda like the block I buttons....HH....Bill

Very cool. WTG!!!
Looks like a " Marine " button from the civil war era.
Take a look at the third button from the bottom on this page:http://www.civilwarbuttons.com/uscentrlist.htm
Item #248,,, Looks to be worth a little bit also...
Good luck & Happy hunting~

P.s. Well,,, after taking a closer look, maybe not, there looks to be some small differences in the two, but they are very close.

Alot of the worth of the buttons depends on the writing on the back or benchmark, they come in differant quality. like "super" or "extra quality" ect. ect. It almost seems like the benchmark defines the value of the button more than what it is. And the same goes for all CW relics, Confedarate relics are always worth more than Union relics....HH.....Bill
