Excellent find I hope Mr. McCain gets in touch with you. I am a retired AF Reservist of 21 years and also belong to the American Legion. I grew up in a small town in Kansas and used to watch the Military Funerals at the cemetary I grew up next to in McPherson Co. during the late 60's early 70's. I used to go and pick up the spent shell casings I think my folks still have em somewhere. I still get the shivers when I hear Taps. The Plumber.

I hope John McCain gets back to you. I was in the Army from 95-98 and on burial detail summer of 96. Everytime i hear Taps the hair on my back stands up.

You could also write a letter detailing the story of your discovery and your research about the man, and then send one copy to a metal detecting magazine, and the bracelet along with another copy of your letter to the V.A. in D.C. Maybe someone there would place it at the Vietnam memorial on your behalf, and then later it would be collected and curated by the staff.

You could mention that you posted it here, and that the story now lives on in cyberspace.

I remember wearing one of those also as a kid. I'm sorry , I'll be honest with you. I can't remember the soldier's name. I do remember it being very important at the time. I have the highest respect for the ones who have volunteered to go in the past.

Great ideas! That would give detectorists some clout with our government and museums.
I served in the Marines from 1971 - 1979. Although I've never had to go onto any campaigns like

Taps always has brought a lump to my throat and this young lady's version is no exception. A marvelous job she does with it. Thanks Don for posting it. There are no official words to the music but here are some of the more popular verses:
