Has anyone hip mounted the Explorer, I am looking to make up a new straight shaft and have the existing handle and control box on a camera strap around my neck/shoulder. This will mean extending the original cable by about 1.200m and use self-amalgamating tape to waterproof the connections. The cable looks to be of a special construction (braided lapped screen with a multistrand conductor) and I will no doubt have to purchase some from Minelab, are there likely to be screening problems with it not running up through the metal stem of the shaft as in the original design?
The aim is to use this for beach work and in the shallow surf as I feel it will be deeper than the Excalibur and by keeping the brains of the machine higher up it lessens the chance of a soaking.
Any comments and observations would be appreciated.
