Went back to the 40 foundations site. Started hunting for a bit when a mountain biker rode up and asked what i was looking for, we chatted a bit, he explained that he was a local resident and also pointed out a few of the older wagon trails on my map where other foundation could be located. I have to say though, many of these places have been hit by other detectorists over the years, but it also seems that there are quite a few old farms way off the beaten path that many people dont know about. I located 2 old celler holes from a house and a barn but couldnt stay long because i needed time with day light to find my way out of there. Found a nice large bell, broken of course. a smaller bell, and another large cent. 1851 which makes a total of 7 coppers found at these sites, and knowing that there may be un-hunted celler holes out there really adds to the imagination as to what could be found there. My oldest find up there was a 1807 half cent. The coppers are fun to dig, but im just waiting to dig some more older silver this year.
Enjoy the pics, if someone can date this bell that would be great.
thanks
