Dad & I were waiting for some rain so we could do a couple of small horse paddocks, we had plenty of rain recently, so headed off to try them. We needed the rain, as we like to turf (3 sided) the grass nicely & put it back wet, so as not to kill it off.
The first paddock was a bust with just 2 flat buttons. The next door field was a completely different story. Across the middle was a bump which may have been an old trackway, & it was hot with finds:
(3 Hour Hunt)

1734 Halfpenny
1723 Irish Halfpenny
William & Mary Tin & copper plug Farthing (Rare find in a stable condition)
Circa 1941 (WWII) Air Raid Patrol Whistle
George Wells Factory Crotal Bell
Buckles & Buttons
1673 or 75 Charles II Farthing (one of my best)
George Lambe Grocers' Arms of Whittlesey 17th C Token:headbang:
Ed I Hammered Penny of Canterbury:headbang: (very unusual to get in a grass field, although it was turned over, as the 4th C Pot Shard was only 4 inches!)

Good Day, I'd say.

I like the whistle, never found one of any kind, or a bell with makers name.

That is some collection, hoping to find just one cap badge.

Good luck out there.

We spoke with the landowner about the WWII Whistle & being a very small Villiage, there is a good chance we can track down the owner (losers) name. He might be dead, but we may find some family. It would be good to put it in their care.
