With the number of gold rings found by folks metaldetecting , it occurrs to me that I've seen

little or no discussion of realising cash for the diamonds . I know that real small ones are not

worth much , but .25 carat up to 1. carat should be worth as much as the gold setting or a lot

more in the case of .75 to full carat . Any light you all can shed on this is appreciated. Argentium.

I would think your best bet in the case would be to sell the ring to a private party through craigslist or something along that line rather than selling it for scrap.

Well the value of the diamond is dependent on the cut, clarity and color as well as the setting it is in. You could get slightly more for the whole ring than just for the diamond or gold alone.
