How to best carry my XLT/Vibraprobe/misc gear on a bike?

Minelab Vanquish 340, Tesoro Silver uMax, Compadre, and BH Tracker IV.

Ex: White's Spectrum XLT, Tesoro Cutlass II Umax, and that circa late 70's red handled junk from RadioShack that started it.
a backpack,you may have to cut a hole so the shaft sticks into an upper compartment or out the top.wrap all
separate parts in a soft towel.rubber band foam padding around screen and pinpoint trigger for added protection.

I do have a good backpack that will fit all the parts, and it's even waterproof, but the lcd/electronic section is horribly bulky and doesn't feel good at all when I ride.

I wish there was a good pelican case that I could strap onto the back trunk rack of the bike that would hold the detector. Those things are nearly bomb-proof.
