As much as I like the ATP, those connections are in need of re-design. Changing the coil or headphones turns into a chore. It's the ONLY thing I don't like about the machine.

The battery case seems like it is not a tight fit. Or maybe I am used to tightening things like Mr. Good wrench. I don't see how it can be waterproof. At least not like how I saw the blond lady in the Garrett video throwing the at pro in the water like that.

I am old with arthritic fingers and I have no problem getting them in. I just make sure the slot lines ups and then I push it in slightly and tighten it with two fingers, done. I can do it in my sleep now. Like you it was hard the first few times, now it is second nature.

If you still don't have the headphones and coil plugged in make sure the pins are lined up! It was hard for me to...

Put some vaseline on the O rings and line up pins and slide in. Make sure the connector is screwed all the way on and snug. When i 1st bought mine I thought I had the cable tightened and after about 50 hours I got no signal and then noticed the cable hanging. The 2nd time I made sure then connector was screwed in all the way and snug No problem since then

Little trick is to move the main piece gently left, right, up and down and you'll find
that sweet spot where the ferrule will screw on without effort.
In other words it'll be lined up perfectly to allow the ferrule no binding at all!

Just a reminder...sometimes those connections will loosen up so check them before you hit the water...

I've had mine come loose, and have since used a set of pliers,to just snug them up. They never work loose anymore. Don't go too tight though! Maybe a 1/8 th of a turn in from finger tight.

My ferrule came loose when I first got it, so I plier 'em a bit too. I push the connector as far as I can then tighten the ferrule. But that is not always enough, after you tighten the ferrule you have to double check, and wiggle and push the plug in even deeper, keep pushing and screwing the ferrule with fingers until you are sure its all the way, then a bit of a turn with pliers. It is too difficult to drive the plug fully home with finger torq on the ferrule you cant get enough of a grip with your fingers unless you are Superman.
