The wife and I drove to Galax VA on 11/23. On Thursday we had a great family day with her parents and extended family. On Friday I went out to an abandoned house out in the middle of nowhere. I did not get a good vibe from the site, so I went on down the road and hunted another property. Not many coins were found, but I did manage to pull a 1911 Barber from near the privy. :hello2: After a couple hours I went into town and hunted the grade school and Felt's Park.

On Friday late afternoon I took off to Charlotte to stay with Carolina Tom and hunt with him on his turf. Tom is the most Gracious host with great accommodations. :notworthy:

We left out Saturday and met up with Brunt Chimney, P@tch, Smittyman, & SuperShaun. Great bunch of guys who give you a run for the money when it comes to sniffing out coins and other keepers.

Tom hit the 1st silver (a cool clown pendant), then I hit the big silver. A 1967 40% Kennedy Half. :headbang: Boy I was stoked when I saw that shiney sticking out of the dirt. Then smittyman pulled a 43 Merc out, right in front of everyone when we were getting ready for the group picture.

Here is Tom's 1st attempt of taking a pic of me and the coin. :laughing7:

He finally took a good one :icon_thumright:

Tom and I headed out for lunch when all the others had to go put up Christmas lights and/or perform other honey do's.

We drove all over trying to decide where we could score more booty. I turned to Tom as said

"Let's do less driving and do more digging"

That's a quote from K-Dog. :tongue3:

Here are the finds from the afternoons sites

On Sunday we went back to the 1st site where all the goodies were dug on Saturday. I used the 5" DD coil all weekend due to the amount of trash (bottle caps & pull tabs) in the dirt. Love that small coil, not giving up much depth with it either. The name of the game at these sites is to sniff out the coins between the trash signals. I did eke out another Kennedy (clad) from that site.

Congrats on a fantastic hunt! Great memories I'd say!

Looks like you needed a small U-Haul trailer to get all that loot home, Loco-Digger!! Nice Barber.......I'm partial to the oldies............

Well done Loco, nice scores on the Barber and Silver Kennedy.
I always enjoy meeting and hunting with fellow Forum Members. When I finally move to Pennsylvania, we will get together for a hunt.
Congrats on your finds.

Looks like a fun time. I like that barber and the half is a looker too! [emoji106]

Still on my list....congrats brother.

Good times, good silver, and new friends for life...what else could you ask for.
It's taken me 2 1/2 years to find two silver halves and you do it on a couple hunts. Jealous but, Sweet!!

Nice score on the silver half. Looks like you all had some great fun.

Excellent hunt and weekend LD. The finds were a bonus, although that is a pretty sweet bonus. Would have loved to have been there. Congrats to you all.

great finds Loco. never get tired of digging silver. are you anywhere near Cleveland? i grew up there, but split 25 years ago.

Wow what a group! I've only had the pleasure of hunting with three of you guys, but man I'm sure you all had some laughs! Great monster 1/2 dollar. I've never pulled a Kennedy.

I especially like Tom's camera skills. Bravo!!

First off, I was trying to take a picture of the tip of my finger, and Loco was all over me like a puppy, he was squealing: "... take my picture with the half dollar, come on..." True story!

Thanks for coming down to visit LD. I was thrilled that you found a BIG silver. That really made my day. I look forward to seeing you again soon. And, congrats on your success!

Great silver, Loco! Man, you've been busy! Also saw the post by Carolina Tom - looks like you guys had a great time!
