Looking at the pics, I would have to say that the mercury dime and Roosevelt were in the same hole.
Many times I have detected with others and they will show me a find that has the little telltale ring of oxidation indicating that there is another coin in the same hole. They will go back, check the hole, and sure enough there is another coin.
It's good to find coins in "worked out" places.
Way to go!

Yes, as I mentioned in the initial post the 2 dimes were in the same hole. In this case I actually saw both of them alongside the piece of dirt that was on top of the Roosie and I thought I might have 3 coins :-\

Thanks to everyone else for you comments

funny how those dimes wear off? congrats

I guess it was the design that caused so much wear. I can remember back in high school while working at a grocery store we used to get some pretty slick ones come through the register

Hi Bruce - I think the mowing was Ken's plan to keep me from finding more silver than he did that week ;D Didn't work though as I brought home 9 silvers including an 1853 W/Arrows dime.

I understand the city has taken over maintenance of the fairgrounds. that should open up more areas for you guys to hunt.

I sometimes like the challenge of a "hunted out park", go slow dig trash is my motto.
