I like the running totals you have at the end of your posts. They pretty much confirm what I've always thought about nickels: that the average on war nickels is approx. 1 per box and with buffaloes it's about 1 every other box. Your cents searched totals are pretty impressive. Nearly $1200 in cents searched is some pretty impressive volume.

Thanks Silverslug! I have come to the conclusion that I am obsessed with cents and that I may have to seek professional help.

So you think you may need to see a cent shrink huh? Sounds like its becoming an obcention for you now lol. Actually, I think its the majority of the population who spend so much of their time working at their jobs and careers to make USD's and have no concept whatsoever of real money who are the real crazy ones. At least copper has real intrinsic value. But I doubt most shrinks would understand even that much. But I digress...

Yes. I know what you mean. I become obsessive/compulsive every time I see a Brinks armored vehicle drive by.

I just got a 1957d wheat cent in change at the Walmart self checkout. I also might be able to go to my pickup bank today. I ordered 2 boxes of cents that should be in today.

It's always a nice surprise finding keepers in change. I think it was either Wednesday or Thursday of last week that I got a '59D cent in my change at a McD's and then just yesterday I got another '59D cent in change at another McD's. They're not wheats but they're still keepers for me. And it seemed kind of unusual to find two '59D cents in change within a week - and from two different locations of the same restaurant chain. But I suppose a lot of people are probably more than willing to get rid of their old change in exchange for a hearty Big Mac and fries lol. Good luck with your boxes.

10 wheats and 5 war nickels in change from just this year is great. I get a wheat cent in change occasionally and I even remember getting a nice full date buffalo nickel ('35D I think) from a Subway restaurant a few years ago but I cant remember the last time I ever got a war nickel in change.

Finding 3 wheats from the teens in one day is pretty good. I haven't found too many pre - '20 wheats myself. Two of my oldest wheats I've found I got in change a couple of years ago. One was an '18 or '19 wheat I got from a McD's and my best/oldest that I remember finding was a '17D wheat I got in change at an Arby's restaurant 2 or 3 years ago.

Thanks Silverface! I am hoping to do more searching than I have been. I think the flood of 2014 coinage has ended and I am going to start ordering boxes again.

That blows me away that you've found that many war nickels in change. I've probably searched a dozen boxes of nickels this year and don't think I've found more that five or six. Amazing.

I seem to find more keepers from vending machines or self checkout machines than I do cash register change.
