I do buy from time to time when the hunting is slow in my area like now. I would like to know everyones thoughts on it as to the type of stone it might be. I already know its a Celt and I did see mineral deposits in the stone before I bought it. Now I have a Celt for my collection. Its my Christmas present to me . Thanks, rock

Good going rock that looks like a nice green stone celt.
Looks like the peck marks are still visible towards the pole end.

It has a black spot on the side but that is from the sticker. I havent washed it yet.

I think I remember you saying you have a jeweler's loupe.
Take a look at the bit end I bet you see thousands of scratch marks none of which look like they are evenly spaced or any repeating pattern.
I could never imagine the amount that was visible until I looked at that big one I found closely with magnification it's pretty cool

Nice looking Celt Rock! If its not savannah river green stone, it could be rhyolite. I have a bit from one I've posted it several times, I'll spare y'all the repost. Off topic, where did you get a jewelers loop? I want one but can't find one.

As a matter of fact I didnt pay a whole lot for it. The owner bought a estate and it was in it. He didnt even really know what it was. I did though

Lol.. I think someone mentioned something about it being asymmetrical.... That's due to the fact that it's basically a modified river cobble... It retains some of its original shape

Good observation, I did mention that. Can you really tell river cobble from field stone from a picture? Or did you have inside information on this piece?

I've hunted in Georgia I've hunted in north Florida picked green stone up myself have you done that quito?... I'm wondering why you feel the need or the qualifications to question everything I post.
Here's a cobble of Savannah River green stone I picked up on a site there's a lot of polish on this one.
I'm wondering if you've done any research on the material before you question my post
So to sum it up yes I think I can tell fairly well what I'm talking about lets see some of the Greenstone pieces you've found... Or if you don't have any experience in that material or this part of the country maybe you should just leave it alone.

I read up some on green stone and it was traded into GA from TN area. Im not sure this one is from TN tough. Not sure as to where it was found. No providence on it. The guy thought it was a smooth rock when he bought the estate.
