I broke one of the Cardinal rules...."Always recheck your holes and plugs!"

Went back to the site of the counterfeit half pence and Conn. coppa yesterday with 3 other guys. My "Uncle Kenny" found an LC in one of my plugs! Had to be a coin spill here. WHAT THE ....! We all could not believe it. I guess I was so excited I never rechecked the plugs or holes. Date was worn and couldn't get it at the site but, it's definitely an 1816-1836 matron head var. Kind of a wide range of dates in a small 2ft. area. Just thought I would share this with ya.

Good post. Yesterday I found a silver cross, covered the hole, rechecked it, nothing. Went all metal mode and rechecked it, sure enough, got a good signal. It was the piece that held the cross to the chain and another nice chunk of silver.

Thanks for reinforcing that.

Gosh, what a N00b. Don't worry, we all have done it. All it takes is for your buddy to come over with a nice coin from your hole!

And when you recheck - use your Sunray probe (if equipped). Sometimes I can get an inch or two deeper in the hole with my probe than if I just recheck the hole with the main coil.

Yes, forgetting to recheck the holes can sometimes happen when we are caught up in the moment after finding an exciting find. Don't fret about it too much as there will be many more Large Cents out there for you to find!
