Higher sensitivity isn't always best. While it generally increases depth, it also amplifies ground minerals resulting in false signals.
If your machine has ground balance, use it and recheck it if the machine seems erratic.
Swing slow and low and keep your coil even.
Rotate around targets to see if good targets can be separated from a junk target.
Don't disc. out anything above iron. Gold jewelry runs a wide spectrum
Dig anything deeper than 6" as long as picking the coil up off the ground a good distance doesn't keep sounding off. Than it's a large trash target.
Invest in a good pinpointer.
And ALWAYS...Follow our code of conduct.

Keppy, the little brass eyelets and big steel toe guard, and big steel shank in your big steel-toed brass eyelet festooned steel shank booties makes the tector "go off" if you dont bust your hump trying to keep the coil uncomfortably far away from your said metal encrusted booties which are like two small junkyards next to your coil. :sad5: Especially if you use modern hot machines.

If you have something not worth anything, toilet bowl cleaner works well to clean corrosion. doesnt take long.... not for use on anything worth anything

I have NEVER even thought of that....wow!!! I am going to try it. Maybe with both sizes of litter too. The small and large chunky stuff. That once a month comment was both nasty and hilarious too btw.
The cat box makes a great metal detecting test garden indoors!

If it isn't worth anything, why waste good toilet bowl cleaner on it?
