I found something

Ok a while back when texas went through that 60 something day drought,. Recently I was doing some work at parents house, and I came across this small boulder like object that has shiny flakes of what seems to be some type of metal like platnium or maybe gold. How can I tell if it is worth anything or if it is anything at. Thank hoping to get a reply.

From your description, it sounds as though you have found pyrite. Can't tell without a photo though.
