Gather 'round folks and have a seat. This just *might* be a lonnnng one!!
As some of you already know, I've been in a silver coin slump for the last few
months. Unfortunately, I still am. BUT! I may have just *stumbled* onto something
wonderful! At least for my psyche'!
Something old! So, sit back and I'll lead you thru my little walk today.
As I'd said, I was in dire need of SOMEthing to break me out of my doldrums!
Now, no, I didn't find a mother lode, nor a cache. But, follow along and pay
attention to the "over all" hints of the day.
First of all, there was this thing.
I'm sure I could be wrong, but this reminds me of the
end of a bugle. There's some tiny markings I can't quite
make out but I think they mention something about
the 7th cavalry, and maybe...the initials of G.A.C. ?
Then, there were these:
Hmmmmm
And these:
Little lumps of lead, what's left of a knife.
And then this wonderful little tag/token showed up:
This next piece I didn't capture a pic in the field
because, in all honesty, I didn't see it properly and
thought it was just some sort of bent square nail/spike.
I didn't actually discover what it might be until it's bath.
Anyone who knows for sure, please speak up!
This next one gave me the lift I needed to shake off
the previous doldrums. It not only gave me what may be
one of my most interesting pieces.....EVER! But, it *ALSO*
helped me get by one worry I've always sort of had but didn't
want to believe. That my lowly lil ATP can INDEED....detect some
VERY deep targets!!
How's THAT for deep enough? With an ATP!!
It was just a 70-ish hit, but, where I was hunting,
that was PLENTY high enough!
Blingie chose the shiniest piece, of course! LOL
This is the tag after a bit of cleaning.
But, I was a bit confused at Fishy's choice today.
This was the piece of brass/bronze that was over 12 inches deep!
I think Fishy knows a bit more than I gave him credit for!
At least.....if I am actually seeing what I *THINK* I am
seeing upon some close examination:
Anyone see anything? Sorry for the rough pics.
I'll work on it. If anyone thinks it's worth the time.
Looks like a rogue's gallery from some plain
ole "dumpster diving", don't they?
But, also, does anyone sense a possible hint?
Possible bugle part, LOL.
Lead drops, possible cooking implements?
A knife remnant?
Ummmm I'm guessing but....a pipe remnant?
And Fishy's favorite?
Also, it is VERY, VERY old, original ground.
I'll let you guys speculate.
