New spider today. A beautiful little jumping spider descended on a thread beside me today and I got a couple decent shots of him before he let out another thread and floated away.

We had a couch, just so happened to be the one I sit on all the time, where apparently spiders would breed somewhere inside. We had the couch for years before I figured out where the spiders were coming from. Well we got a new couch so I put the old one out at the curb for the trash. That same evening someone picked it up. It was still in decent shape. At least the spiders were not poisonous but I feel bad for the sucker that has the couch. The spiders were huge. PS, yes I'm sorry I opened this thread. Now my skin is crawling.

I saw this one crawling across my driveway last fall, because of his color, I saw it at 75 foot away, I put piece of blue matte board in his path and it crawled a-board......NGE

It seems like black widows have experienced a boom in population and range.

Mr. O is allergic to spiders - even the ones that are harmless :(

This spider is known as a Red Roman by us, it chases your shadow, bit scary as you think it is chasing you to bite you. I believe they do run their prey down to catch it. Not sure if it will bite us humans or not, or even if it could do any damage. When they run across the floor, they seem to stick out two legs in front of them... looks kinda funny to watch.
