Well...true be told...I am a small time coin roll hunter, but I do have a couple thousand each month to throw at coins.

So, I went to a bank that I had never been to before and asked for halves. She said they had about $300 in the vault. I'll take them...how many?...all of them...so, she came back with a $500 box partially filled with $300 worth of mwr halves (typical story). When I got home, I noticed this on the flap of the box:

Someone had been buying a $10 roll once a week or so for 16 weeks except for last week they got their bank roll up to $30. Here I come in and buy the rest ending their supply in the short term. It was probably some cute little 2nd grader who rides his bike up to the bank every week hoping for the big score of silver. I felt terrible...but I found 6-40% and a 1942 walker...I feel better now.

I did the same thing last September. The teller told me the guy came in and bought a roll every week. I bought the half a box that was left. The craziest part is that it was one of the boxes from that great collection dump from last summer. That dude must have been cursing me. Out of the half a box I picked up, I found over 50 silvers and 2/3 of them were 90%.

It just shows you how addicting the hobby can be. If you can only spare $10 a week or $10 a month, you know were that money is going.
Nice finds out of that box Zero!
I'm sure, with that $10 a week guy being a regular to that bank, they'll order up a new box for him to work on.

Thanks guys! It was a good week for me with a total of 43 silver halves (38-40% and 5-90%). My most exciting find this week was a 1952 Carver commemorative. It was my first Carver.

These are the results from the first of two hunts this week mainly coming from 5 CWRs and a few teller trays:

Great totals and awesome Carver.
A Carver half is at about the top of my "want to find" list.
Nice going!

That '42 walker is magnificent! I'd like a few of those!

Is there a mintmark on the Booker T./Carver half?

It would be under the US on the reverse.

Looks like no mint mark...so I guess mine is from the 2 million minted, not from the 16k minted?
