I was on my way home this afternoon and decided to stop past the local pawnshop. There was a guy in there trying to sell them this ring. They would only offer him $55. When he declined and walked out I decided to follow. I offered him $70 and it was mine :D. It weighs about 6grams. I brought it to the gold buyers up town and they offered me $71.... So I can make a dollar... Or try selling it on ebay for a bit more. I assume that it's worth above scrap. I'd love to hear your ideas on what I should list it's starting price on Ebay, and what I should expect to get from it.

Very nice ring. Maybe hold for a while until gold prices (hopefully) rise? I am holding on to my (meager) gold and silver finds with the hopes the market will be kinder.

Good buy!

Six grams of 14K is $140. If you aren't able to find a gold buyer to offer you more than 50% and you want to sell it, I'd definitely list it on eBay. If you list it as scrap you should still sell it for at least melt (minus fees). I'd start by trying something like $249.99 OBO and selling it as a good piece of jewelry.

Wow! They only offered him $9.00 a gram for 14k that is crazy low from what I've seen of scrap prices. You shoud be able to do well reselling it. Goodluck!........Scott.

Some Pro's here mail there scrap to a place in Texas that can send the stones back to you. They are a big smelter there. What is the name? They pay 90% or 88%, somthing like that.

NTR Metals. They have several refining facilities, I ship to Phoenix. They pay 98% of spot. 6 grams of 14k = $1245 (spot) X .585 = $23.49 per gram X 6 = $140.94. I have sold NTR several thousands dollars in scrap gold and never had a problem with them. Good luck.

For 98% of melt and get the stones back, it is worth a 30 day wait to me. If I didn't have local scrappers that I liked, I would definately use these guys

Note to self... Start hanging out in front of pawn shops and intercepting the customers. lol

Seriously, I've always wanted to do that. Nice ring for the money! I'm in it for the long haul. PM's get put away in a safe, dark, place for the future.

I believe you are thinking of ARA Gold
98 – 99 percent on gold. 90 -95% on silver.

I used them last year and was happy with them

A woman I worked with was telling me one day about her son's yard sale. She said some guy offered to buy his broken jewelry and how much he made from it. I told her he got probably 50% of the scrap value and he could have gotten 98%. She ended up bringing in her jewelry and I weighed it all out and told her to expect around $1050 depending on spot price. ARA sent her a check for around $1125 because a couple of the unmarked pieces were 10k. She was thrilled with her payout. Thinking back on it, I should have paid her spot for a couple of the pieces, they weren't broken, they were given to her by her first husband.
