I've noticed a color change over the last two years in these tree rats getting darker.

This young black one came back today for a pose,I'll have to wait and see if there are more from next years litters.

I saw black snowshoe hare high in the mountains one night. It was bigger than Bella.

Love the black squirrels! They are uncommon in the east but some were brought to MA from the midwest by some scientists years back so some will be found there. There is also a group of them in the Greenwich, CT area which I have seen. Mostly they abide in OH and MI which is where I have seen the most of them. Very pretty for "tree rats".

I have not seen any around where I live. Earlier this year, when I went fishing at Grand Lake St. Marys, I saw one. I hope it sticks around for you, Chris!
