"I TRUST THEM NEITHER SOBER OR NOT" {TROOPER CORRUPTION 1862}TOKEN
hi everyone ,The old Humme and Iser trading post built in 1854 is beening demolished. The building has been used for many different purposes over the years.Behind the rear of the building was the trooper stables and Lock up.This was only for short period as a new stable and station was under construction on Commissioner Hill .There old wooden flooring and roof was removed friday.A friend of mine was having a look around and found a few things.A couple of old bottle tops and a tea token from 1856.In 1862 there was a mine commissioner that made the statement about the troopers."I trust them neither sober or not"There was a short inquiry into trooper corruption but nothing was done about the problem.Scott found alcohol bottle shards and a unused tea token.Seems the mine commissioner was right. Scott works for the local demo company and had a bit of a look around in his lunchtime.No-one is allowed onto the site but you just got to wonder what else is in the ground under where the floorboards were. What time is sunset [only joking] Heres a pic or 2 of Scotts finds
