Metal Detecting
Usually a few days after a Saturday hunt I go through all the trash I dug and separate the copper, brass, lead, and trashy items. Copper, brass, and lead go into recycle buckets
to sell later as metal scrap. While going threw the pile of trash I noticed a star attached to what I thought was a small piece of copper tubing. Upon further inspection I noticed
on this small 1 inch long piece of tubular metal the word "Sterling" ! It appears to be some kind of Jewish jewelry? It has a hollow opening on one end? Anyone know what this is?
Make sure you inspect all that you dig! I almost threw this away!

I agree I have 2 boxes of stuff at home I still have to go through hope I missed something. Good eye. I can see your a dig all hunter that's why you have so much great finds. I look forward to seeing your year totals. Tommy

Nice save fluke!

I think Judaica is a really special category. I've tried to research there a few times but had limited luck. You might seek auction sites that specialize that way. Or collector's houses under that category. You never know how old an artifact in that category might be? Don't accept an offer until you know for sure what you're selling!

Good luck!

I agree with rickb2202. My first impression was that definitely looks like an old lipstick tube. I always enjoy finding them. Not sure why. Probably because I like to find anything old and personable

That is the holder for a Mezuzah scroll. These are affixed to the doorway to a Jewish home and contain the first two biblical verses of the Shema prayer.

Dharmacy got it before me - darn!

Check the trash again for the cap - Nice find!

Very cool find, and good eye at not throwing that out. Congrats on the find.

I regret to report that I most likely wouldn't have recognized that as treasure. Oops.

Very nice find. Good thing you recognized it as something worth saving.

I love the out of ordinary find, I check everything.
