If I seen it at a garage sale I wouldn't pay $10 thinking it was Chinese junk.

I ran across this article earlier today, what an awesome find but I too thought about a man hole cover and probably not digging it as I have dug several man hole covers. I also thought about digging it and hitting it with the shovel, I just don't dig huge targets because they just aren't there in my areas. I wonder if it was skill or beginners luck? HH, Mike

Reading the replies it seems it was a ritual head piece?And a Temple should be nearby? :dontknow:Just someones assumption I guess

That is amazing craftsmanship absolutely beautiful :headbang: they say made from white metal ? looks bronze or copper , and just how did something that large survive thousand,s of years without being damaged simply amazing .Dd60

the face mask would have looked silver as it had a very high tin content, the hair, hat & griffin were gold when new as they were bronze. It would have taken some strength to ride around with it
