🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Impossible to ID coin?

This is a coin I found near my rose bushes in Virginia. Weighs 8 grams, 28 to 29mm in diameter, and is encrusted in iron so don't know the metal id. I can make out a 6 but thats about it? Please help out if you can and also suggest some affordable cleaning solution/tools. Appreciated!

Have you put a magnet near it yet?

Could be a slug, or an electrical panel knock out.

If it's iron then it's unlikely to be a coin

Yep, try the magnet test. From the look of it and the size, that looks an awful lot like an electrical panel knockout. I've found some that look extremely similar.

I once found a medal commemorating the marriage of a British king, Edward it could have been. I remember 2 heads facing right, one behind the other. The medal was made of some white metal, probably zinc or an alloy. It had only been in the ground for maybe 50 years and it wasn't in very good shape. I wonder whether your piece is something similar. Doing the magnet test is the first screening. If magnetic, not like my medal. If non-magnetic, keep investigating.

Yeah I don't think it's a coin with all that iron conglomeration
