These Mounds are SCARED GROUNDS & cursed against "disturbances"; one case in Virginia is when VDOT built I-81 south of Roanoke, Va. & "busted up" a Burial Mound in the "path"; LOTS of nasty car wrecks, etc. in that "cursed" area. Be careful... be VERY careful.

Well actually it is just the thought of a type of "marking"... not looking for this... heh
I was merely pointing out the fact I never heard of marking a "spot" like this... may have been a common practice...to some anyway,...
I know some MASSIVE trees I would just like to give a quick "scan" to see if any old metal markers are in em...

I hae never really scanned too many trees way off the ground.

I would never dig in a known grave area... or the likes... EVER.

Your not gonna find too many 300 year old trees in PA anyway.
and if you do come across one , odds of it being the right one would also be rare

Of course if you come across a Big Old tree,
it wouldn't hurt to look :laughing7:

You guys are missing the point...
I am NOT looking for THAT tree...
OR ANY tree like that one... near that tree... looks like that tree... related to that tree... in the same area of that tree... on the same CONTINENT of that tree is all. heh

sheesh that was ... um... :)

Anyway.., I am sick... and grumpy now. :P
Um...
I am ONLY INTERESTED in the fact they MARKED a tree IN THAT WAY.... NOT that tree... heh

IF it was done once... even in TIM BUK TOO.... it was done elsewhere...
All I was saying that from now on I am metal detecting the TRUNK of ALL and EVERY tree that is bigger than 2 foot round... heh
From now till the day I die :)

I got your point

Besides even IF I found that particular tree still standing.
I'd saturate the area with my detector.
It don't detect bones, But it does detect the Spoils of Battle

Every BIG tree I see ... when working a property... I am swingin up and down the trunk and lower limbs...
I imagine it would be a good way to find "shot" as well...
Old chains etc,,,
Trees grow over these items and items would "disappear" into the skin/bark... lost forever... no sign at all... or maybe a scar thatdoes not even stand out without the knowledge of the "look"...

Just would be interesting to detect some of the biggest trees... see if they "talk"/ tell a story.
Makes me feel like "mystery detective" show with that "phrase"... heh :P

I've been handing out likes left and right in the PA sub-forum. I live in PA and just discovered this forum about two months or so ago, and I've been reading about everything near my locale. I live not too far from the Isle of Que and never knew it had an Indian burial ground.
