Indian find while detecting

I was using my detector in an area filled with Christmas trees, that my father used to crawl through, when he was a boy and fill his pockets with Indian artifacts when the previous owner plowed it. My detector went off and I dug a 4" deep plug, flipped it and there laid an Indian fishing weight! I took it to my father and his eyes lit up! He immediately knew what it was and it was in great shape. Other than this, only found a 1979 Lincoln penny and a modern bullet. The artifact made the trip worthwhile!

That is a nice weight. You detector cats always find native artifacts. Check this out!! Found this while walking a plowed field in pursuit of stone artifacts.



You don't have to say it I know, if I had a detector...... I would be a bad mamma-Jamma!lol honestly I have walked Lord only knows how many miles swinging a detector and my best finds were a mercury head dime, a skeleton key and about five dollars of dirty money. (Literally dirty) lol

Thanks field hunter. My parents property is in an area of an old Indian village. It was well field hunted when the land was plowed. My Dad still finds points occasionally when the field beside all this is plowed. It was just pure luck that my detector went off for something and I dug this hole in the middle of 3 acres of Christmas trees and there is laid.

Your find is cool too! It's amazing what can be found when people go looking in old fields.
