Information on Military Helmet

A few years ago I was in my attic and i happened upon this helmet Im not looking for anything specific, but I would appreciate any information that can be given on this helmet! Thanks!

Looks like a British Mk2 Brodie (WWII)

hmmm. Im assuming the British made helmets for the Americans Troops then? The person I believe that this helmet belonged to was in The US Army.

I'm not at all an expert on these, but have noted the markings you've shown (the heat stamp) starts with ZA, which according to the site below was an American made helmet (for US troops) in WWI. We called ours the M1917 helmet. These however were used into WWII. The pattern was British, though, designed by a guy named Brodie.

I think the chinstrap / liner style makes it an M1917-A1, upon further reading.

That's the way I took, and actually they did make a lot of these for us, but I believe yours is a US made example.
it seems to be in great shape! What else is in that attic?!

I found it next to some Indian Head Penny's, the oldest dating back to 1895, and 2 arrowheads which the members of arrowhead forums have authenticated and estimated to be between 8000 and 1000 years old! I may have to go on another search sometime!

I have a photo of my Uncle, who was USMC stationed aboard the Navy Base at Pearl Harbor Dec. 1942, and he was wearing a helmet just like that one. I don't know how long it was before they were reissued the helmet we are all familiar with. Oops, I meant 1941, I don't think it was very far into 42 when the issued the new helmets.

That was the year the switch over to the M1 helmet began to occur.
