Interesting assortment from the campgrounds - need help ID'ing silver coin

I spent another 4+ hours hitting my favorite campground on Tuesday, and came up with a very interesting assortment of finds.

I'll stay light on the words this time, and tell the story with pictures...

This is a Horstmann Philidelphia button (1893 - 1935) found not too far from where I found the US Cavalry bridle rosette a few months ago. Indian Wars item?

Very cool AAA School Saftey Patrol badge...

Buckles...

IMG_0925.jpg

Whistle and key were found together in same hole...

IMG_0929.jpg

Ornate old drawer handle...

Scout relics...

Junk ring...

Total haul, minus a TON of junk... - I think the giant item is a foot pedal for a piano...

Clad (two wheat cents were found)...

And now here is the silver coin that I can't identify, mainly because it is so worn that I can only make out one letter on the coin - which I believe is a "C". Their may also be an "E" and "I" to the left of the "C". The coin is the same diameter as a dime, but does not have a reeded edge, and is much thinner than a dime. I'm including lots of pictures in hopes that someone will see something that I am not seeing...

Thanks for looking, and Happy Hunting!!!

Time4me,

Looks like you have a turn of the century Canadian Dime to me:

Here is a modified extract of one of your photos:

Here is an example of the dime from the internet:

Lots of great finds to look at there, you did very well. Your worn out silver is most certainly a Canadian dime, as was suggested by another poster. I immediatley noticed the halo of Victoria, and the letters DEI GRA. I've got a few badly worn out ones of my own, and they are thin like yours. No matter though......nice find!.

Thanks! That looks like it. Do you know what date range this particular style of Canadian dime was made? I'd like to know how old (or new) it could be.

That dime style was in use from 1858 until 1901. Doesn't narrow it down for you much though does it?

It does help me though, as it puts it as the oldest coin yet from this site. Previous oldest coin was a 1914 Barber dime.

Thanks for the info!

Wow, Jim, out of all my silver coin finds, I have not found a silver as worn as your Canadian dime. :o

That coin really got a lot of circulation. There sure is a lot of interesting items at your campgrounds!
