Found this hook while diving - did not know it was a hook but was intrigued by its shape.??? (it was originally almost total square in shape)

Anyway, after soaking it in acid to dissolve the coral, it soon became hook shaped and had what turned out to be a musket ball with it as well!

Amazing how long these two items must have been resting together, undisturbed, to get welded together by coral growth!

Very cool! Kind of looks like a knapsack hook. Larry Reynolds (youtube) would be able to identify it immediately. The guy is an early military guru!

cool find. I used to dive wrecks and used to collect wreck items. too bad the musket ball broke off. I would 'Elmer's glue' it back together for display. where there is one relic there are usually more. good luck finding more. clearly an early site.

Nice relics! The hook perhaps held a bag with musket balls.
How do you tell what's what when it's all dark? Does the crusty stuff break off easier?

Nah! I doubt BVI is on a good site. He never finds anything.
