It's a dollar but it ain't silver!
I hit a softball field and found a clad quarter 8" deep. Must have turned the outfield over at some time or added topsoil. I kept eyeing a volleyball court with nice white sand and finally decided to give it a try. I found the Susan B. Anthony dollar about 2" deep in the sand and a couple of memorial cents. I kept getting real strong signals and I moved them all over the top of the ground and they were so small I never could find them. Most of the sand looked like ground up white quartz. I wonder if there could have been gold flakes in it?....I have no clue....I got home before my wife did so I hit the yard for a little bit and found that long rusty piece and it is a pocket knife. It must be very old because it's almost beyond recognition. I found that storm door thingy a minute later. We had to do some shopping so I stopped by the machine out front and thought I spied an Indian head penny in one of the boxes in there. It took me 3 quarters but I got it. It turned out to be a 1945 plain wheat. Oh well, better luck next time.
