It's really ugly, but I found my oldest wheatie yesterday! 1910 S, semi-key date!

I wasn't going to post this one, but since we're getting a foot of snow today, it will be awhile before my next post! It was 58 yesterday and now we're getting buried with snow today. Wonderful!

I spent two hours in the woods yesterday, but only had a couple of decent finds. I found a really crusty wheatie and a Colibri lighter. The wheatie was so crusty, I didn't even take a "before" picture. After cleaning with hydrogen peroxide, it ended up being my oldest wheatie, a 1910 S! My previous record was a 1911 D.

The lighter is pretty crusty as well. I don't think it's old, since it has "Japan" stamped on the bottom. Decent find, though.

Here's a couple of photos of my "treasure":

Congrats on beating your oldest wheat penny record. Not a bad way to start 2017!

Congrats on your oldest wheat, now you need a 1909.

Congratulations on your 1910 save.
We are getting hammered with white stuff here in NYC.
The good news is; rain on both Saturday and Sunday with temperatures above freezing overnight.
I believe that the snow will be gone by Monday.

Thanks, guys! I'm really glad it wasn't a 1909 VDB. That would have been really lousy to find one in that condition! I'll find a 1909 eventually, I hope.

We've got about 9 inches of snow, but it going to snow another two or three hours, so probably a good foot by the time it's over. Going to be a long week!

You will want to make sure that one stays on your coffee table or computer desk for the next 3 to 5 years. Mull it over a little bit.

Picture looks like 1910-S

You may be right! Good eyes! I'll attempt to clean it up a little better. That would make it a semi-key date wheatie. Too bad it's trashed!

Yup, definitely a 1910 S. Now I'm really annoyed that it's trashed! LOL! Mintage of 6,045,000! Now it's my oldest wheatie and the lowest mintage wheatie I've found.

My 1910 Wheat is my oldest dug one cent coin , and it also is a really green crusty coin- I may try some hot peroxide on it . Olive oil soaked it for 30 days didn't touch the crusty corrosion.
