I recently found a silver ring with the marshmallow center, I think it was part of the setting that had held the stone in place and the stone fell off. Or, the stone was synthetic and that that was what it morphed into?

Either way nice 14 K ring, I'd bet they are real diamonds.

I'm thinking it used to be a pearl there - because of the drilled center to hold it in place . Nice Find

I was thinking pearl also....they don't do well in the ground. RE: a find of mine from a while back. I think this is a pearl.
