I've Got My Hopes Up

I ran into an 85-year-old gentleman in WalMart Friday who lets me look for artifacts on his land. His nephew is a big landowner who recently purchased some land that I used to hunt. When it sold in 2008 the new overseer would not let me look it because it was owned by some lawyers who do not live here and they were concerned about liability. It broke my heart because I found some incredible artifacts there in the 3 years I had permission to look. The gentleman told me that he would ask his nephew if I could look it. Here are two artifacts that came from the field.

What do you think this is?

Man that is a sweet gorget and the axe is sweet too. I think I would have had a hard time keeping out of that spot! Good luck getting it back.

Hope the elderly gentleman can persuade his nephew to let you hunt artifacts on this property again.

Well hopefully it all works out!

Looks like a nice hoe to me rather than an ax.

I was thinking the last one was a hoe. I would think that type of chert wouldnt hold up on a piece of wood but would do great in the dirt. Good Luck

Great finds and the last one looks like a Gilford axe JMO if it was a hoe there would be use wear on the bit end like some type of smooth wear.
