I stopped by an estate sale today on the 50% off day. I had been there yesterday and spied a few things I wanted to get at half price. Well turned out I was first at the jewelry counter and pulled the following all for $52. Unfortunately the two sterling platters were purchased the day before. I was happy to get what I did. About 150g of sterling once you back out the weighted junk and 3g of 14kt.

James Avery Cable Bracelet with Large Heart Charm 35.3g (This should be a about a $150 item once I grind off the monogram on the heart.)

Sterling Salt Shaker solid with weighted base - 41.8g (around 20g sterling)

Two Sterling Weighted Candle Sticks - 418g (around 41.8g sterling)

Sterling Weighted Candle Stick - 296.8g (around 29.6g sterling)

Sterling Contemporary Pin/Pendant Marked 925 Mexico - 21.3g

Sterling Ear Rings - 4.7g (around 1g sterling)

14kt Gold Cameo Screwback Ear Rings - 3g. (These will match the cameo pendant I got at a TS last week and make a nice set.)

Gold Filed Ear Rings

Nice score.
There are some great videos on youtube. Search Thrift Store silver and watch a few. Some do a great job of showing you marks.

I passed up that exact funky .925 Mex pin the other day at a thrift. It's a nice piece, but they were asking $24. I would expect to sell it for $20-$30, so had to leave it at the store of course... Wait for half of day.

Nice scoops. JA stuff sells great.

This was actually one of the more expensive items of the bunch. It was marked $25 at half price was $12.50. The JA was $30 marked down to $15. Thank you for your comments.

Rule of thumb I'm finding, with the Taxco, is that it will sell for approximately $1/gram, after shipping is deducted from the deal. Going scrap price for sterling is around .50/gram right now, so :

1)Try to get that Taxco at .50/gram.
2)Don't scrap your Taxco jewelry!
