Just a stone or something more?

Hello - I'm about to give up hope that this is anything other than a cool stone but the shape, unnatural groves, and staining where some type of rope would have been is too coincidental. I found this on my property in Central Massachusetts and thought it could be a north american artifact of some type. It was suggested that I try this forum and see if anyone has thoughts about what this is. Note the lack of staining that seems to coincide with where cordage would have been to attach this to a handle. Any thoughts would be appreciated. And thank you in advance for looking.

What’s the length of that thing?

honestly it doesn’t look like any artifact type I’ve seen. At best the pointy end resembles a graver.

The length is 5 1/2 inches. What is a graver? It's hard to see in the picture but the pointy end has marks from some type of rope. I can post closer pics if that would help.

It looks like the pointy end was tied to something based on the groves and stains on the stone.
