Just before the sun hit the river..

Took a walk down the Meadows this morning to see what would fill my view finder this spot the sun hits first in the oxbow,I saw the Kingfisher..the Green Heron I didn't notice till I uploaded all my pics,nice surprise.

I walked to the other side by the river and caught this guy surveying his hunting grounds.

I could see some Egrets up river so I moseyed on over for a closer look.

One flew away while the other one started looking for a snack.

Then he switched directions..

Irrigation and the rain we had did it's trick..Golf Course:laughing7:.

I checked my Tomato plants and see there are still a few Blister Beetles eating the heck out of some of the plants,google them..NASTY little critters,don't ever touch one (you think poison oak is bad?)

That may be the biggest kingfisher I have ever seen ( or the green heron is the smallest I have ever seen:laughing7: ). I was reading on the local Audubon Society's webpage that the egrets have been reported the last couple years here with more frequency. Is the same true there? I was always under the impression that they were more of a Southern bird.

They remind me so much of a Kookaburra,the Egrets must of got a bit of Damn Yankee in em.:laughing7:

Man what a difference some water on that sod can do. Guess you'll be needing to mow more I'm thinking.
